In-Person Ideas for Babies and Toddlers
What an exciting time to share with your grandchild! Watching them take their first steps, say their first words, and engage with the world around them a truly special experience. A grandchild is like a sponge, eagerly soaking up everything life has to offer. Cherish these moments as you both embark on this wonderful journey together!

Playgrounds
Playgrounds are a wonderful place for young grandchildren to bond with their grandparents. They enjoy the toddler swings, which provide a safe and fun experience, and the sliding ponds that bring excitement to their playtime. If you're fortunate, you might find a sandy area for them to explore, where they'll quickly learn that sand isn't meant for eating! Don't forget to bring kitchen bowls, sifters, and plastic serving pieces for creative sand play, and who knows, other children from the playground may join in the fun!

Arts and Crafts
Most arts and crafts materials, including crayons, paints and other materials are all non-toxic. So you don't have to worry about your young grandchild putting things in his/her mouth. Here are some fun ideas to do with your little one:
Painting - paint with water. Use a big bucket of water and a large paint bruch. your little one can paint outside--rocks, the house, a bench, etc.
Finger Paining - get lots of colors - an opportunity to learn colors and mixing of colors - use finger painting paper. It's slippery. There are plenty of smocks you can make or buy if you are concerned about clothing.
If you don't like your grandchild getting fingers dirty, you can put the finger paints in a zip lock bag and then seal it tightly. The paints stay at the bottom until your grandchild starts to squeeze the bag and uses his/her hands to "finger paint". Still fun.
Crayons - there are jumbo crayons for young children to use. Big sheets of paper are perfect for artistic expression.

Music
Introduce your young grandchild to the joy of making music with everyday household items! Pots, pans, and spoons can become their favorite instruments, providing endless fun as they bang and march around. Play a lively marching song on Alexa or your phone, and watch their eyes light up with excitement!

Stacking
Discover the joy of stacking with everyday items! Young children are naturally drawn to putting things inside one another, and you don't need to buy expensive toys to encourage this play. Look no further than your own drawers—Tupperware containers of various sizes and shapes can become the perfect stacking toys. Toddlers will delight in exploring, taking things out, and putting them back, making it a fun and engaging activity that keeps them entertained for hours!
