Connecting Grandparents and Grandkids

In-Person Ideas for Pre-School and Early Elementary
Your preschool or early elementary school grandchild loves hands-on activities. This is the age of running, doing and using all 5 senses. You can have so much being active and engaged with your grandchild. These are the big growing years and they are filled with surprises, fun and lots of activity.
Pretend Activities

Playdough Bakery
This is a fun activity for younger kids and a great way to let your imagination roam free. You and your grandchild can pretend to own a bakery, and you can buy your grandchild's desserts. This is the link for the video to make playdough at home:

Educational Visits
This is a great time to take your grandchild to a hands-on museum. Most cities have a children's musum full of exhibits that they can touch and interact with. There are also special exhibits that might be available during a certain season, month or even holiday time. You will enjoy this special time together and learn exciting things about the world.

Outdoor Activities

Ball Games
Whether it's starting to play softball, baseball, kickball, soccer, basketball, flag football, or even this new game called gaga ball (used to be the old dodgeball), this is a fun and active way for you and your grandchild to interact. It doesn't have to be competitive, but learning a new sport or activity is fun and engaging. You can share stories about the sports you played and provide fun memories to pass on to your grandchild. This is also an opportunity to meet new peers, both for you and your grandchild.

This activity is a great chance to burn out your little ones after a long day of fun! Jump rope is a great idea because there is a variety of different games to play. Some of these games include: Rattlesnake, Strawberry Shortcake, Helicopter, and much more! Subscribe if you would like the words to these songs or games.
